Gerard Martin

BIO

Gerard Martin is an artist and art teacher from the Monterey Peninsula. He grew up in the area and developed a love for the natural beauty of the region, as well as a passion for drawing. His mother, a painter herself, encouraged his artistic pursuits.

Gerard studied illustration at the Art Center College of Design, where he received his BFA degree in 1991. Throughout the years, he has had the opportunity to learn from several talented painters, including Dan McCaw, Ovanes Berberian, Charles Movali, Ken Auster, and Steve Huston.

Gerard is particularly fond of plein air painting, which involves painting outdoors and capturing the beauty of the natural landscape in real time. When he is working in his studio, he enjoys painting still life scenes and agricultural landscapes.

In addition to his work as an artist, Gerard has also been teaching art for many years at a local high school. His passion for art and his experience as a teacher have allowed him to inspire and mentor many young artists over the years.
